Moderator tools

The following tools have been developed for the moderator team. All media and site adminsitrators may access these tools on this Ourmedia page.

• Make Media Node: Often, items our members publish make it into the Internet Archive but not onto Ourmedia. Use this form to publish the item onto Ourmedia just by entering the identifier in the Archive. The uploader has to be registered on Ourmedia for this to work.

• Find Node from IA Identifier: If you hear of an infringing file on Ourmedia but you only have the url of the file on the Internet Archive, here's a way to find the media page on Ourmedia -- just plunk in the IA identifier. If you go to a media page in the Archive, it should list the "identifier" on a separate line. If not, in the following example the identifier is "JDLasicaInterviewwithCourtneyLowery": http://www.archive.org/download/JDLasicaInterviewwithCourtneyLowery/Courtney_Lowery_interview.mov

• Reset User Password: You can reset a user's password by entering in the member's user id (example '4228') and a password (example 'apple').

• Find User by Email: This tool allows moderators to find a members user page by simply entering in the user's email address.

• Community Watch Curation: (Coming Soon) this tool will allow the flag team to keep track of new uploads. Uploads can be Flagged, Okayed, or notify the user and deleted. Reported items are added to the publish community watch list. Moderators can also select user's media and either publish, delete, or unpublish.

• Move Story to Blog"": Occasionally a user will post a story that is inappropiate for the front page. Use this tool to move the post to their blog instead.

• Recover Upload: This tool allows moderators to recover a member's failed upload. If a member has tried to upload by using the submit media pages on the website (not the OM Publisher tool) and she gets a confirmation page but no media page, You can enter the node id she was given to recover the file and create a media page. (A flaw in the IA's nameserver is causing the problem.) Note: the file must be located on the ourmedia.org server.

• Blocked Users: Display blocked users. Earl developed this tool.
