Blogging module

We want to make WordPress the default blog platform for Ourmedia.

Blogging module

markus emailed to jd on 4-22-06:

James Seng created a blogging module for Drupal.

More like MovableType than WordPress, but I think the main issue is that it attempts to add blogging features competetive with MT or WP.

It even has an MT to Drupal migration tool (fyi, Jay, Dave and I all have Typepad/MT vlogs and would love it if migration were easy; i imagine others would too).

Might be a good project task for anders to see how well this works.

jd: In addition, WordPress has a very dedicated and committed group of volunteer developers, and I'm sure a few of them would love to dig into making WordPress the default blog platform for Ourmedia.

from markus: I have been looking into WPMU (multi-user). Here are some notes/thoughts:

  • WPMU if far less mature than WP. but wpmu share 99% same code with wp. most wp plugins also works on wpmu
  • the developer and support communities for WPMU are different and smaller than for WP
  • WPMU allow one user to have multiple blogs (that may work well for OurMedia)
  • multi-author blogs are allowed
  • most WP themes and plugins are compatible with WPMU
  • checkout edublogs.org for a great WPMU implementation
  • see also gobloglah.com
  • why not just ask WP to host our blogs?
  • Yahoo! supports WP and MT now. Why not ask them to host ourmedia blogs?
