players
As part of providing support for cool players on channels, we have set up a folder of the popular players, including the popular 1pixelout player. Here are details on how to access this player. The script and movie are located at the following url's http://ourmedia.org/players/1pixelout/audio-player.js and http://ourmedia.org/players/1pixelout/player.swf
Here is an example which uses the player and script at ourmedia and audio data from archive.org: which is produced by embedding this code: Somethings just "come out in the wash", as they say. Last night I was fixing some player bugs and I realized that we were just a few tweaks away from having a popup version of the Ourmedia channel player. You can embed these anywhere (your blog, etc.) Here is a brief overview of the current Ourmedia home page media player. This player is used in two places: the ourmedia.org home page and the channels' home pages. From an email I wrote to the SpinFlow group... There's been much talk about building a Flash "player" lately. The word "player" means very different things to different people and that is causing some confusion. I find it useful to start with a real world analogy here... We have been enhancing the Ourmedia player with a thumbnail browser used on the Ourmedia home page and for channels. Here are some notes and resources used during this project. Update: the Ourmedia player has been liberated! It now can be used in a "freevlog" style popup window. Homepage player and ChannelItemsBy Markus Sandy at 05/08/2007 - 08:40
1. I have added the ability to paste embed's and object's directly into the ChannelItem body. With the exception of a title, all other information is optional. 2. I have modified the Ourmedia homepage player to handle this new kind of content in the feeds. so far it works with a blip.tv paste, this and the condelicious post you asked about the other day. I am just now finishing up on the sizing issues (we can handle anything up to width of content column (about 600 currently). well let you know when it is ready. You can see an example of this at http://staging.ourmedia.org - it is currently pulling the feed from the "sites we like" channel which i am using at the moment for testing this. you can see the channel entry here at http://channels.ourmedia.org/node/117 Morty and Dave have been talking for some time about developing a player for Outhink. How we'd use a player(Notes: Descriptions here are still a bit superficial and do not yet address how player would actually be used. Also, no costs/benefits are discussed e.g., player embeds will likely result in significant increased web and database server loads, no discussion of statistics gathering, etc) Here are some thoughts:
The components that make up the front page or homepage
