Uploading to the Ourmedia Collection at Archive.org

Tonight, Papyromancer asked how to create an uploader to Archive.org that worked with Ourmedia...

In order to have Archive.org contributions show up on ourmedia, you simply have to include the following elements in your metadata file (the xxx_file.xml)

1. include a ourmedia to indicate the collection

2. include a yourname@yoursite.net element that is associated with your ourmedia account email address to indicate the contributor (this shows us as in archive webservices such as

http://www.archive.org/services/oai2.php?metadataPrefix=oai_dc&verb=GetRecord&identifier=The_Worlds_Youngest_Videoblogger

We have a cron job that periodically picks up new entries at archive.org and parses the metadata files.

Alternatively, going to ourmedia.org/ia/details/ARCHIVE-IDENTIFER will force creation of a new node based on a valid archive.org id if it does not already exist and then display that node. This may also force creation of a new user account if contributor does not already exist.

I think that's about it unless you want to get into details about how we parse and process the archive.org metadata files (the xxx_meta.xml and xxx_files.xml files).
