Two upgrades: og and viewsBy Markus Sandy at 06/26/2007 - 15:51
I upgraded the og and the views modules. I was hoping that this might bug JD and I are seeing that does not allow content admins to check the "public" box in a group post. I will have to try and find a patch for this bug. This is a necessary first step in that process. I also have to find time to upgrade all the other mods we use. I think I am finally getting the hang of the Drupal upgrade process: (1) backup old mods, (2) copy up new ones, one at a time based on dependencies, (3) run the update.php as admin (there is a link on the modules page that is best to have handy BEFORE you revisit the modules page), (4) review messages for success or errors and (5) resubmit the modules settings page (if you do step 5 before step 4, you may see a bunch of error messages, hence it's good to have that page open already). We do all that on staging and then test as much as possible. Next backup the live production server mods and repeat the process. Update: turned out that the upgrade to the production system had a small hic-up. The Channels Directory listing was blank. This is an og view and so I simply re-saved it on a hunch and all was well again. Update: I was just testing the add channelitem as admin user/1 and the public checkbox is working!!! I'm not sure why I thought it was not in yesterday's test, but a refresh of the same channelitem add form shows the checkbox as selectable and checkable. Wow! I had to do a lot of reading on this issue and it seems like it is still a problem for some sites and that there may be more than one issue that causes this symptom. See http://drupal.org/node/107289 for one such discussion and note the reference to a javascript related issue at the bottom of that thread. The good news is that this seems to be working correctly now on channels.ourmedia.org Links:
